You may be thinking to yourself, we’re looking into fall trends already? But believe it or not, September is only six weeks away and it’s always a good idea to be prepared for your next color appointment.
The ‘bronde’ trend isn’t exactly a new one, but the color is a gorgeous way to transition from bright summer highlights into the subtler warm tones of autumn. Stars like Karlie Kloss, Constance Jablonski, and Olivia Palmero have all been seen sporting this quintessential look as of late.
It can’t be denied that there is something stunning about jet black hair.
It’s enchanting, moody, and perfect for the fall and winter season.
Single-process dark hues are popping up all over models and celebrities like Joan Smalls, Rihanna, Adriana Lima, and Jennifer Hudson.

LIGHT HAIR & DARK ROOTS
Most women are probably used to cringing at the sight of their overgrown dark roots, especially blondes.
But guess what?
It’s time to embrace this previously taboo style!
The care-free, just rolled-out-of-bed/I woke up like this look is gaining traction in the fashion industry and therefore also out there in the real world.

Prep hair by applying about a nickel size amount of the Davines Relaxing Moisturizing Fluid to wet or dry hair to eliminate any frizz factor, control the hair, and add some shine. For hair that is coarse, try adding a deeply penetrating oil like our Davines OI Oil.
Split the hair down the middle using a wide-tooth comb to create two equal sections.
Clip away the section that you’re not going to be working in order to create a clean section.
On the other side, grab a small section of hair to begin. Divide the section you picked up into 3 equal sub sections. Begin the inverted French braid (Dutch braid) by crossing the two outside strands under the middle strands. After you make your first few stitches, begin adding hair to the outside strands & continue to braid under.
To tame any fly aways or loose strands of hair, apply some of the Aveda Control Paste. Next, continue to braid all the way down until you reach the nape of the neck & tie off your braid with elastic, leaving the remainder of the hair loose.
Begin an inverted Fishtail braid by splitting your loose hair into two equal sections. Grab a piece from the left strand, cross it under, & merge it with the right strand. Take a piece from the right strand, cross it under again, and merge with the left strand. Continue this process down to the ends of your hair. Simply tie the end with elastic and lightly spray the Aveda Control Force Hairspray to hold any fly aways.
We love the way this looks paired with any outfit. We especially love that it’s another great hair style to help get your hair out of your face & off your neck while still looking polished.
Next, let’s see if you can transform your double braid into a triple braid.

We know what you’re thinking – “bangs aren’t for everyone, plus they require a lot of maintenance!” The best part about these fringe bangs is that you don’t have to suffer through the growing out process & you don’t need to take off too much length! It’s a much more subtle version of the classic bang & it’s not as much of a commitment to the style.
This edgy cut is currently a major trend in the fasion industry. We especially love the bangs to be styled into a less uniform cut so that they fall in a piecey fashion across the forehead.
You can also make this look work whether you have long or short hair, making the look versatile and easy to achieve.
WE’RE BEING BLUNT HERE
Blunt bobs are nothing new, but they are bigger & longer than ever.
If you have naturally straight & thick hair, then this cut is the one for you. Unfortunately, those with wavy or coarse hair won’t get quite the same effect.
Styling Tip: Keep your hair straight at the ends! Do not flip the ends under with a round brush while styling – this will defeat the entire purpose of the look & ruin the blunt edge.
LARGE & IN CHARGE KINKY CURLS
Finding the right cut for naturally curly and voluminous hair can be a real challenge. The key here is to have your stylist cut your hair when it’s styled naturally & dry. Try asking for shorter layers to give a rounder look to the hair if you have a ton of bounce and volume, as longer layers will weigh the hair down.
The cut gives a fresh & flattering bohemian vibe – we love this look!
Pairing straight, blunt bangs with wavy hair was once frowned upon – but we’re embracing the textural differences in 2016. If you keep your hair smooth at the roots, the two styles can blend well.
As we mentioned, bangs can be a little high-maintenance, but simply blow out with a round brush to smooth & straighten and leave your hair naturally textured.
“Textured shag is the haircut of the year,” says Dove celebrity stylist Mark Townsend. “Unlike shags of the past, this haircut is all about enhancing your texture – no flatirons or blow-dryers required.”
Just ask your stylist to cut your hair dry into heavy layers. If you want to merge two trends in one, opt for some overgrown bangs.
Play around with your natural texture when you style it at home & use your favorite products to help enhance the look.

It’s 2016, but 90’s trends have never been cooler. Everything from chokers, baggy clothing, and space buns have been slowly coming back into the fashion scene for the last year. Our favorite of these trends is the super model hair of the 90’s- think Cindy Crawford.
The style we’re going for today is this messy side part that gives a gorgeous beach goddess effect. If you’re like me, you probably flip your hair 100 times throughout the day without even realizing it. This style truly is one of the most flattering and effortless looks that you can achieve.
The deep-part hair flip gives a sexy, but laid back vibe for the modern-retro girl.
RIDE THE WAVE
If you’re blessed with fresh out of the shower beach waves, then this step is pretty effortless for you. For anyone with straight or super curly hair, this will require a little more work, but it’s so worth it!
ONE: Avoid stripping your hair of it’s natural oils by keeping your washes to a minimum! Try extending your washes to every 2-3 days and use dry shampoo to prevent excess build up of oils – plus, it’ll give you a fresh boost of volume for the day. When you do wash, opt for a formula that will boost your natural volume and give you some extra body. We suggest the Brazilian Blowout Volume Shampoo & Conditioner for a formulation that adds dimension to your locks without weighing them down.
Beach Sea Salt or Texturizing sprays are perfect for getting that undone look. Simply apply to your hair when wet and scrunch in with your fingers from the ends of your hair all the way up towards your roots. We adore the Davines Sea Salt Spray or the Living Proof Instant Texture Mist – they both add a voluminous beachy look, without making your hair crunchy.
For those of you who have straight hair, spray your wave-enhancing product and flip your head up-side down. Begin blow drying your hair at the roots using a low speed and medium heat. Be sure not to brush your hair through, this could unintentionally straighten your locks! Curly haired babes can restructure their hair into beachy waves with a 1 inch curling clipless curling iron or rock their curls.
Choosing your part all depends on your preference! A secret styling tip is to start by flipping your hair on the opposite side that it naturally falls to give it some natural lift at your roots. Then throughout the day feel free to flip it to the other side to keep the hairs volume lasting throughout the day. Flipping it to the other side mid-day keeps the style looking it’s best and gives the volume a fresh feel.
Bonus Tip: If you have a wider face with strong cheekbones, use the end of your eye to determine the depth of the part. For a smaller face, use the middle of the eye as your guide.
MAKE IT LAST
As we briefly mentioned before, utilizing the effects of dry shampoo will keep your hair looking fresh for a few days. Dry shampoo gives hair some extra grip and added texture, while separating the strands from one another.
When spraying into the hair shaft, make sure to tousle your hair with your fingers and gently scrunch the hair to work the product in and blend any powdery residue that may be left over.
